NFC compatibility checker
Does my phone have NFC?
Check if your phone is likely to support NFC cards, NFC tags, and NFC review stands. No app required.
Based on a phone compatibility database of 777+ models, refreshed every week.
NFC support can vary by phone variant and country. This checker is optimised for phones sold in India.
What is NFC?
NFC (Near Field Communication) lets your phone exchange data with a tag held a few centimetres away. Tapping an NFC card, sticker, or stand opens a link, contact card, Wi-Fi connection, or payment prompt instantly — no app needed on modern phones. It’s the same technology behind contactless payments.
NFC vs QR: why our products support both
NFC is a tap; QR is a scan. NFC feels magic but needs an NFC-capable phone. QR works on virtually every smartphone camera. That’s why LINQS products pair both — NFC for the tap experience, QR as a universal fallback — so your card or stand works for everyone, whatever phone they carry.
Why some phones don't support NFC (and how to check on Android)
Many budget Android phones sold in India ship without NFC even when the global version has it — so always check the India variant. To check manually:
- Open Settings and search “NFC”.
- If it appears under Connected devices or Connection preferences, your phone has NFC — switch it on.
Why iPhone behaves differently
Every iPhone from iPhone 7 onward has NFC hardware, and iPhone XS (2018) and later read tags automatically. But Apple doesn’t let websites run a live NFC test in Safari or Chrome on iOS — so on iPhone, the reliable check is to search your model above or just tap an NFC card.
NFC + QR products that work for everyone
Whether your phone has NFC or not, these include a QR fallback so any smartphone can open your link.

Frequently asked questions
Does my phone need an app to use NFC?
On Android and on iPhone XS (2018) or newer, no app is needed — tapping an NFC tag opens the link automatically. iPhone 7, 8, and X need a free NFC reader app. Older iPhones (6s and earlier) can't read NFC tags.
Will NFC work with my iPhone?
Most recent iPhones can scan NFC tags. iPhone XS and later read tags in the background with no app. A website can't run a live NFC hardware test on iPhone, so search your iPhone model in the checker above to confirm.
What if my phone does not have NFC?
You can still use QR-enabled products. LINQS NFC products include a QR fallback wherever relevant, and QR works on almost any smartphone camera — so you're covered even without NFC.
Why does my phone not scan NFC even though it supports it?
Usually NFC is switched off, the tag is too far away, or a thick case or metal plate is blocking it. Turn NFC on in Settings, remove the case, and tap the top/back of your phone flat against the tag.
Is the result 100% accurate?
It's based on our latest India-focused compatibility database, refreshed weekly. NFC support can vary by country variant, so for budget and India-specific models we recommend confirming NFC in your phone settings before buying.
Is a QR code included with NFC products?
Yes — LINQS NFC products include a QR fallback where applicable, so people on phones without NFC can still tap or scan to open your link.
